FAQ

Is a motorcycle with a sidecar safe?

Yes, motorcycles with sidecars are definitely safe. Unlike normal motorcycles, they are much more stable because they have three wheels. In addition, the Ural M63 is completely restored.

Is a helmet also mandatory for passengers?

Yes, for the rider and passengers of a motorcycle with sidecar it is mandatory by law to wear a helmet. You do not have to bring your own helmet. Arnhem Sidecar Tours has approved helmets for the passengers. They are completely disinfected after each use and can be used with a hair net if desired.

Is it Covid-19 proof?

Yes, we work according to the applicable guidelines. Because, once on the bike, we cannot meet the 1.5 meter distance, we work with mouth masks or a face shield. Your guide has his helmet visor closed for this purpose within the one and a half meter. If both guests are from the same household, wearing of a mouthguard during the ride is not necessary. We use jet helmets for our passengers which are disinfected prior to each tour. We also disinfect the parts of the bike that are frequently grabbed. Hand gel and disinfection towels are available.

What to bring?

Bring your own: Jacket, camera, mouth mask, and in summer weather, sunglasses and sunscreen. We will provide your helmet and gloves.

Do I need (extra) insurance?

In the Netherlands, all passengers in a motor vehicle are insured under the third-party liability insurance of the motor vehicle. However, it is advisable to have your own travel insurance.

When is the best time to book my tour?

Unfortunately, we are limited in our availability to provide tours. It is therefore advisable to book in advance if there is still availability in our schedule. It is sometimes also possible to book for the same day / weekend.

Please send Bart a WhatsApp message for short-term possibilities or special requests: +31 6 38967400.

What if it’s bad weather?

We can handle a little bit of rain, in that case our tour can go on. In case of really persistent rain we will see if there is another timeslot available with less precipitation. If that is not possible we will return 100% of the payment. (excluding any transaction fees).

How do two passengers fit on a sidecar motorcycle?

One passenger can fit in the sidecar and one on the back of the hover seat. Both spots have 360 degree all around visibility and are comfortable. During the tour it is fun to switch places every now and then. (Unfortunately not with the driver then, that’s only possible for the photo).

Can I drive the sidecar myself?

No, it is not possible to drive the sidecar yourself. Each tour is provided with a private driver: Bart! It is unfortunately not possible to rent the sidecar without a driver.

Can I create my own route?

Yes you can! During the routes we offer we visit special places about which your guide can provide you with interesting background information. But if you have a different idea that is probably also possible! It is also possible to use Bart and his Ural for special transportation, think of a fantastic entrance at a party or maybe even a wedding!

Where is the start and finish point?

Starting place for all tours is our pick-up point at the Jacob Groenewoud Plantsoen, next to the Kadestraat/Nieuwe Kade intersection. We have a nice spot near the steps to the river Rhine . In consultation it is possible to agree on a different start or end point.
